Since 1985, Sea Scout leaders from all over Europe have gathered every three years to take part in the European Sea Scouting Seminar ("Eurosea"). The 8th such seminar took place in Finland, at the Korpostrφm Archipelago Center, in June 2006 and brought together 60 participants, planning team and guests.
The seminar is one of the most popular events that takes place in Europe, and has a very special atmosphere due to the participants all having the same background through working in, or being involved with, Sea Scouting.
7 to 11 May 2008.
Participants are requested to arrive on Wednesday morning, 7 May,
and departures are from Sunday, 11 May starting at 9:30 am.

The center is situated in the picturesque valley between Kilmashogue and Tibradden Mountains in
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown, and only 7 miles from the centre of Dublin City. Larch Hill is also
situated near the start of the Wicklow Way and is an ideal base for hiking.

The event is designed to accept up to 60 participants. Priority will be given to have the largest
number of different countries represented.
The participation fee is 350 euros but is indexed after GNP. The fee covers all accommodation
and meals from lunch on Wednesday, 7 May, to the morning of Sunday, 11 May. It also covers all
program materials and documentation. The participation fee does not include any health or other
insurance or personal expenses, such as telephone and bar charges.
The application form, or photocopies, should be mailed or faxed to the European Scout Office or
emailed to eurobureau@euro.scout.org by 30
March 2008. If the application is sent by email, please send it through your national office
or international commissioner (to confirm the support from your national association;
applications received directly from individuals will be discarded).
Once participants have been selected (acceptance letters will be sent to national associations by
10 April 2008), they should make their own travel arrangements and obtain visas if necessary. If you
require an official invitation to obtain a visa, please indicate this clearly on your application form.
A wide variety of working methods will be used, including plenary sessions, audiovisual presentations,
outdoor activities, case studies, group discussions and team tasks, workshops, exhibitions, marketplace.
There will be some social activities such as a welcome party, international evening,
sightseeing, sailing, and a farewell party.
Participants are asked to prepare a case study of best practices in their association to be
presented to others at the seminar. If you wish to do so please indicate on the application
form the title that you are willing to offer and provide a brief description.
Participants should expect 14-17oC temperatures and occasional rain. A live view of Dun Laoghaire Harbour, one of the oldest and largest ex-British naval bases in Europe
The European Scout Region does not cover the participants during the event neither during the travel to
or from the venue. Please note that this is the exclusive responsibility of the national association to
ensure that the participants are covered by insurance (illness, accidents, repatriation,
etc.).

Bank connections and details for paying the seminar participation fee will be given to all
participants in the seminar information pack.

Participants arriving in Ireland earlier or leaving later and who would like assistance in finding
accommodations (at their own expenses) or home hospitality should contact the host committee by email

Participants are encouraged to bring a workshop with ideas on how we can celebrate 100 years
of Sea Scouting in 2010. If you wish to do so please indicate on the application form the
title of the workshop that you are willing to offer and provide a brief description.
