Bakgrund

Since 1985, Sea Scout leaders from all over Europe have gathered every three years to take part in the European Sea Scouting Seminar ("Eurosea"). The 7th such seminar took place in Portugal, at the Centro Nacional de Educação Ambiental de S. Jacinto, in September 2003 and brought together 60 participants, planning team and guests.

The seminar is one of the most popular events that takes place in Europe, and has a very special atmosphere due to the participants all having the same background through working in, or being involved with, Sea Scouting.

Presentationer

Rekommendationer som konferensen givit upphov till

  • The next Eurosea Seminar should be held in Ireland in 2008.
  • Collaborative efforts must be strengthened by reinstituting the Odysseus Group.
  • Information sharing must be enhanced through additional linking on the European Sea Scouting website, as well as by making better use of existing web tools (e.g. Community Zero).
  • The European Sea Scouting website should move towards being more of a web portal.
  • It will be critical that work on water activities-related legislation by the European Union be actively monitored in the coming years.
  • A Sea Scout Armada should be held in coordination with the 2007 World Jamboree. This will be a Norwegian-coordinated project.
  • The centenary of Sea Scouting should be celebrated in 2010 and should include Sea Scouts from all over the world.
